Caseworkers` Salary

Post by ens » Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:44 pm

Caseworkers` Salary is said to be around GBP 12 000 - 15 000 per annum.

That may be an answer to some applicants with their HSMP applications surprisingly refused why that happens.

They used to hire illegal immigrants in HO.

Those caseworkers are sometimes unqualified or not sufficiently educated people to judge the cases of potential highly skilled migrants.

I want to be wrong but such a simple explanation comes to mind when you find out their salary level in statistics.

another quotation from their FAQ

There are no formal educational requirements for many of our recruitment campaigns but qualifications may be required for specific roles depending on the skills and experience required. In most instances where qualifications are not required, candidates will be required to complete a competency based application form and must undergo a written test to ensure they have a reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy. Our adverts will clearly set out whether qualifications are required. You will also need to be able to pass our selection process and complete initial training.

They're Administrative Officers, although all decision will be check by someone higher up. But let's get this straight though, caseworkers are just following instructions, they don't actually make decisions as such.

and

IND does not run its own graduate scheme. However we have approximately 20 posts in policy, operations and corporate services filled by fast streamers recruited through the Civil Service Fast Stream Scheme, a graduate entry route for Senior Civil Service careers. For further details about the Fast Stream see www.faststream.gov.uk . We also welcome applications from graduates for other posts in IND, particularly at Executive Officer, Immigration Officer and Higher Executive Officer level.

Excellent thread!

Looks like more often than not case workers are not enough qualified to judge the abilities of highly skilled migrants!

I have seen few people (UK residents), automatically assumes that, UK being a "1st world [?]" country, anyone from Asia/Africa are inferior to them (irrespecive of their education/experience etc.)

Most probably because of such low salary, many case workers suffer from inferiority complex when they see migrants earning so much over them. So, they try to refuse application on slightest excuses.

Agree with WoodieG...

caseworkers only based their decision based on what their manual of instructions say...if its not there then chances are...you have a "NO" as an answer...they follow a certain list of items to check

...remember the caseworker manual? everyone

its rather immature/pathetic attacking the salary of caseworkers.

Just because the salary reflects its a job that can be filled by most people, doesn't mean the people actually doing it are stupid or not well trained.
Being a Home Office caseworker may be some peoples dream job.

Your time would be better spent ensuring your application is 100% complete

My only comment on the salary, is that at £14,333pa, assuming they work 5 days a week for 48weeks - the caseworkers each only need to process 42 FLR(HSMP) applications (£335) per year before Home Office starts making a FAT profit.

1 application every 5.6 working days to break even...
