Change of address to temporary while on SWV

Post by somethingchanged » Wed Feb 21, 2024 10:24 am

Hello! I have a skilled worker visa at the moment, and I plan to finish the work earlier than planned and leave the country in the following months (less than 6). I need to move out of my place, and I am currently looking for accommodation for a short term and majority of them are sublets and/or are not letting you put your name on a utility bill or such (but they can provide a contract) because it’s short-term.
I have two questions: 1) can I stay in such accommodation on a SWV at all for a period of up to 3 months (if landlords are not happy with me getting a proof of address at the place, seems like a problem for updating my address at work, with banks and such — are short-term addresses used for these purposes?); 2) can I use a short-term contract, which is likely to be for lodging, on my change of address form? I try keeping things very clear and updated, and I am likely to make other visa applications to the UK in the future so I want it to be done correctly. I’ll appreciate any advice, thank you.

The Home Office is not that concerned about how you live - rental, sublet etc - giving a change of address or not pretty much is a minor issue if you are visa compliant.
It is not going to a big problem or issue in future applications
For the sake of completeness do it.
