Change of Job Title Before Tier2 Application

I'm switching from Tier1 PSW to Tier2 soon and my sponsor is currently applying for a License to sponsor me.

I was hired for the position of 'Telecoms Project Manager' when I first joined in March 2013, BUT my actual duties are the ones of a 'Telecoms Engineer'.

I suggested to my employer to change my job title to a 'Telecoms Engineer' but he's worried that this might affect my application; i.e. the Home Office might think they changed job title to meet the minimum salary.

Would this be a problem? How would the Home Office know anyway? Can this cause unwanted complications to my application?

My current salary meets the minimum salary of both jobs by the way.

the job SOC code should be selected according to the job description, not according to the job title which is of secondary importance.
