change of name on spouse passport after marriage...

hi all, i am about to apply for hsmp extension next month.

got married recently and my wife is in UK on dependant visa.
is it really required to get the surname changed on her passport ?
(which will be done by Indian high commisson in london).

will she face any problems down the line, if surname on her visa and passport varies ( if she opts to change surname on passport down the line)

can anyone throw light on this.
