Hi,
I wonder if you can help me. I married my husband in Pakistan at the beginning of this year and he joined me recently in the UK.
I wish to take his surname but the problem is his surname and forename are the wrong way round on his Passport (as with most Pakistani people)
He is known by everyone as Arshad but on the passport he is Mohammed Arshad - which means I would be called Mrs Arshad.
This is the way it's written on the marriage certificates too.
In order to have a family name I have decided to take his dad's name as our surname and change it by deed poll.
I don't know if this is going to complicate things later when he applies for his permenant stay.
Should I just change mine and then change his later?
Thankyou
