Change of Work Permit from GWP to CSEP

Post by SassyHazel » Tue Aug 20, 2024 10:26 am

Good day

I am currently on a GWP in Ireland. My employer is very impressed with my work ethic and overall performance within the first 3 months (probation period). I am now been given a salary increase based on my performance. I do not hold a degree however I have years of relevant work experience, and my skill falls under the critical skills list. I did meet the initial salary requirement for a CSEP without a degree.

Since my salary increase, can I change my permit to a CSEP? Note I am on a GWP that states I have to stay with the same employer for 12 months before a can submit a new application, however I am staying with the same employer and just need my permit to change to CSEP as its grants me more benefits.

I thought I could ask for a variation however I am led to believe that a new application must be submitted.

Is this possible and what would I then need to submit?

Thank you

I don't think variation is possible - the department has fulfilled their obligation by giving you the GEP (General Emploument Permit - I assume that's what you mean by GWP), end of processing.
Nothing stops you from applying for a CSEP anew - your employer would usually be the one to sumbit an application, as (I assume) they did with GEP.

I assume you fulfil other criteria ie 2+ years' job contract is given to you.

Just an update following my last post. I submitted a new application after been in Ireland for 4 months on a General Work permit and changed my permit to a CSEP after I received an uplift in salary. It was approved.

Is there anyone who can share invitation letters for visas both from a sponsor and from the applicant. My spouse and 2 children aged 15 and 19 will be submitting applications for visas. I appreciated any advice and guidance. Thank you all kindly.
