Changes to German Citizenship Law

Of interest to German members of this forum:

The Federal President has signed the law enacting the changes to the German Citizenship Law and it was published officially on 26 March 2024 in the Federal Law Gazette. https://www.recht.bund.de/bgbl/1/2024/104/VO.html (in German only). This will, amongst other provisions, abolish the ban on dual citizenship for foreigners in Germany and Germans in 3rd countries, like the UK.

Please note ARTICLE 6 which explains when the law comes into force: - in three months after the publication of the law.
Check with the German Embassy which will update on the process in due course: https://uk.diplo.de/uk-en/02/citizenship.
