Changing name in passport, but what happens to the visa ?

Hello members,
I have to get my wife's surname changed to mine after marrigae. But the visa in her passport has her maiden surname. If I get the name changed in the passport, the visa stamped will still have the maiden surname.
So do I have to send her passport to the UK home office to re stamp the visa in her new surname. Please suggest. Thanks

I'm not sure I understand your question. Presumably the visa is in your wife's current passport, so her new passport (with her married name) would not have any visa in it - which is fine. She can travel with both passports as long as the visa is valid. She does not have to get the visa transferred to her new passport. Which visa does she have? When does it expire? One caveat: it's best for her to travel with her marriage certificate to help explain why she has passports and visas with different names.

I also do not understand why you say, "I have to get my wife's surname changed to mine after marrigae." Many women choose to keep their maiden names. Surely it's up to her, not you?

Thanks for the reply.
My Wife's current passport has her mothers side surname and the visa
( hsmp dependent) also has mothers side surname. Now in the current passport the Indian hig commission would add a page with the married surname, but the visa is still in the mothers side surname.
So the first page will be after marriage surname and visa page will have mothers side surname. Will this be ok ? or do I have to get the visa also changed to after marriage surname ? any suggestion, please let me know

That should be fine. She does not need to change her visa. But like I said, it is probably best if she travels with her marriage certificate to reduce any potential confusion.
