Child born in India to British and Indian parents - RoE or UK Visa ?

Hi,

Myself and wife both are British citizen. Wife is currently in india with twins and my understanding that both child become British citizen automatically by descent.

However, we need to apply for British passport from India.

Q1. Do we know what process we need to follow for British passport from india?
Q2. Do we need to visit nearby VFS
Q3. Timelines to get British passport before they can travel

Splitting your query from the thread that you had placed them in, as your circumstances (both parents being British citizens vs one Brtish and one Indian citizen parent) are quite different.

To the best of my knowledge, your child is not eligible for an Indian passport as neither parent is an Indian citizen (OCI is a lifelong visa, not a form of citizenship). Hence a CoE-RoA on an Indian passport is not an option.

The only option for a child in your circumstance is to apply for a British passport, which can take six months to a year.
