EU citizen coming back to Ireland

Post by knapps » Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:56 pm

Hi all,

My EU wife had been working in Ireland for 4 years in the same place. Then she got sick and had to go back to her country to get treatment as no help in Irish hospitals. She got a p45 from work and also a form E103 from social welfare office in order to get health insurance back home.

But being a good worker her company told her when she is back she can start her work with them again.

My question is does she have to inform the social welfare office again or she can just start working under her same pps number. As we did not cancel pps no or anything..

please reply

thanks

once you get a pps number, it's for life... so she has to work with her old same pps number

yes, definitely confirmed, same PPS for life:

I left Ireland after studying, but later came back for work...

I had a PPS-number for studying, but never attached any importance to it. When starting work, I was asked for the PPS, so I tried to apply for a "new" one. No dice. I had to find the old one, which put me through some trouble.

So it is for life, even if you leave Ireland it´ll wait for you...
