Eu Citizen married to a Non-Eu

I have been offered a job in France and am wondering if as non-EU citizen, my wife will be able to obtain employment?

If you are a British Citizen your wife will have the right to work in France as the dependent of an EU national exercising treaty rights. It is best to sort out her paperwork/dependent visa at the nearest French Consulate. I suspect that you may also have to undergo a further registration process to get some form of residency permit for you and your spouse once in France probably at the Mayor's office or the French equivalent of the British Home Office/ US DHS.

I was born in the US to British parents, and have lived in the US since my birth. I have been offered a job at the international school of paris, contingent upon getting my EU passport.

I am confused about taxes and social-security while I am working in France, and also health insurance for my wife and child.
Any information you can provide will be much appreciated!!

yes, if you obtain a EU passport, your wife will have first to obtain a visa for a family reunion, then apply for the carte de sejour once in france, and then she will be able to work;.

france is a very good state as far as social security goes. you will have almost "free" (payed by your taxes, which are high, around 35% depending on what you make on a year) medical insurance.

once there she can also register as a job seeker and get extra benefits. if i remember correctly, this is done at the assedic..
there are government websites that explain the tax regime and the healt insurance policies in france. you do have to pay a little extra for provate complement to government health (it covers 80% of prescriptions, and the private component will pay the remaining 20%)it is very different and much better i think than the way things work in the US

It was 5 years ago when Conrad asked this question. If he and his wife did go to France in the end, they're PRs now. They may even be citizens.

Not correct. His wife might or might not require a visa to enter France. If she is American, for instance, she would require no visa. Same goes for other family members.

Hi. I'm non-EU member of EU member. Should i have i visa to travell around Europe? My wife is citizen of Hungary and we are planning to go to Hungary so do i need visa to travell around Europe if we go together? thanks.
