Citizenship application after EUTR3

Post by Corkyboy » Fri Aug 01, 2025 6:53 pm

Hello,

Sorry to bother you.

My wife got a 10 year IRP card a few months ago after applying with EUTR3.

She now wants to apply for citizenship.

I am a British citizen.

Just thinking ahead, but will we need any certified copies of passports?
If so will a bank manager be able to provide this?

Many thanks for any help.

Hi,

A certified, color copy of the biometric page of your current, in-date passport. This copy must be certified by a solicitor, commissioner for oaths, peace commissioner, or notary public.

Thanks Angel,

Going to get this done shortly.

Online there is also some information that I - her British husband need to provide a certified copy of my passport and possibly birth certificate?

Sorry for further question.

Thanks

No the naturalisation is not based on marriage so she doesn't need yours. Hers is sufficient.

@corkyboy Kinda off topic, but can i pick your brain about EUTR3. I applied for EUTR3 last week and got an approval re same yesterday. They want me to apply for my 'permanent residence card' on the online portal. I can't see any option for permanent residence card in the drop down menu and can only see STAMP4EUFAM which is also my current permission. Is that what I am meant to select? Also, it was my understanding and it takes 6 months for them to sort it out, i got it approved in a week, so is it safe to assume that they were talking about applying for the actual card that takes 6 months?

In Ireland there is no difference in the Stamp 4EUFam. You will just be issued a 10 year validity and you can use the same EUTR 3 permission letter to renew your irp several times incase you can't apply for citizenship. It's the EUTR which can take up to 6 months. Your irp renewal takes a couple of days or weeks.

Stamp4EUFam is the right option.
