Citizenship Application Fee Waiver for under 18 with Disability

Post by Baldwin73 » Sun Mar 31, 2024 12:25 pm

I hope you're all doing well. I am a refugee who recently obtained Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) and I am looking to apply for citizenship for my daughter. Both my daughter and I are currently receiving Universal Credit and disability benefits, including Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for her and Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for me. My question is whether this qualifies my daughter for a fee waiver for her citizenship application, or will there still be an affordability test conducted ( I have £2500 deposit at bank duo to disability benefit backdated)?

See the official guidance below with a link to full information (assuming your daughter is under 18) :

you do not have a place to live and cannot afford one
you’re unable to afford essential living costs like food and heating
you do not have enough money to pay the fee after paying for your accommodation and other essential living costs
paying the fee would mean a child’s needs cannot be met
