Citizenship application + name change

I want to anglicise my surname and I read somewhere that if I will make a deed poll I can submit it with naturalisation application form to get naturalisation certificate in a new name.

Two questions:
1. Is this actually true?
2. What name should I write in form AN? New one as the main name and old one as previously held one?

Using your numbering :-

1. Yes
2. Your new name, as specified by the Deed Poll

Somewhere on the form AN it asks for previous names, which you must of course specify.
