citizenship by decent for children over age 18

I am a female British citizen by birth, have a British passport and all my ancestors on both parents sides were British.
My daughter was born in the U.S. in 1987 and her father is a U.S. citizen.
She would like to claim British citizenship by descent through me but after searching through the UKBA website and several visits to UKBA offices, I am unsure how she should go about claiming her citizenship
The UKBA forms I have seen refer to claiming British citizenship through descent via the mother prior to 1983 and as I have already said, she was born in 1987.
Any opinion, help or advise greatly appreciated.

If you were born in the UK, then your daughter is automatically British by descent.

As stated, she is already British. There is nothing to claim. If she wish, she can apply for a British passport.

Maybe I should have clarified, my daughter is living in the U.S. and has lived there most of her life and has not resided in the U.K. for more than sporadic intervals.
After going to numerous UKBA websites I cannot find the relevant forms which apply to her situation as the daughter of a British citizen by birth , who is claiming citizenship by descent although presently not residing in the UK. and who was born after 1983.
Can you please advise where I go for the forms which apply to her situation?

There does not seem to be any obvious form that applies to her situation.

What form did you need to fill in for her to claim US citizenship?
I suspect none because she was US citizen from birth. It's the same for her British citizenship. You won't find any form to fill in on the UKBA site because those are for people who are not British and apply to become British. Not your child's case.

Just apply for a British passport, if you wish, at the nearest consulate.

I can't help but wonder if British citizenship by descent is automatic why the UKBA has forms for applying for citizenship for those 18 and younger and those born before 1983.
I'm not being devil's advocate, just wondering .
I am ever so grateful to you and will have my daughter apply for a British passport.

Because not everyone is British from birth. If your parents are not British and you are born in the UK or if your parent is British by decent and you are born abroad, you might not be British from birth but could apply to become one at a later state (there are several conditions that need to be met)

and those born before 1983.

The British Nationality Act changed in 1983 (such as the transfer of BC by the mother).

All this is not relevant to your child who was born British, is already British and is entitled to hold a British passport.

I just wanted to express my appreciation for your advice regarding my daughter's British citizenship status.
My daughter intends to take your advice and is going to apply for a British passport in the very near future.
I can't tell you how truly grateful I am to you for your assistance in making everything clear. I suppose I was making her situation more complicated than it really is.
