Citizenship By Decent

Post by dave22222 » Sat Aug 15, 2009 6:45 pm

Ok my mom qualifies to apply for citizenship by decent (form 118). I am assuming this would be dual citizenship on her part and she wouldn't need to leave her current country of residence at any specified time. Let me know if that is wrong.

For me to also apply for citizenship by decent it appears my mom would need to move to Australia for two years and then I could also apply for citizenship by decent.

In this case what would happen with my wife and dependent child?

Also is there another simple way for myself to apply besides my mom moving there for two years (which she is not likely to do without me).

Information from: http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/ ... escent.htm

Thank you.

If there was no other way then for my mom to move there for two years is there a temporary visa my wife and I could get until we could get our citizenship by decent?

Thanks everyone.
