Citizenship Director HMRC

Post by jaiveersingh » Thu Aug 04, 2022 5:56 am

Hi,

I will soon be applying for citizenship. I want to know if any of this will have any impact on my application.

I’m a director of a limited company since I entered UK (I was on tier 2 dependant visa before ILR)

I have been late at submitting tax returns with HMRC also amended my returns couple of times and paid late fee and interest.

I filed accounts late on one occasion but everything is paid and up to date.

I’m just worried if this will be taken in the wrong way and impact my application as this is the only employment I have to show.

Will appreciate your guidance

Also, does it matter how much I earn and how much tax is paid, if it’s less or more?

There are no financial requirements for naturalisation i.e. how much or how little you earn, taxes, etc.

As for your issues with HMRC shouldn't be a problem if you comply/have complied with all arrangements to clear arrears, such a payment plans. For peace of mind you can summarise the position in a covering note.
