Citizenship Eligibility for Child Born Abroad

Post by jk89 » Wed Jul 09, 2014 4:11 am

I'm finding that it's very hard to get a clear answer on whether I can claim British Citizenship through my father. I was born abroad in the Philippines and my parents were not married at the time but have married since. My dad was domiciled in Hong Kong at the time, but had dual citizenship in the US and UK. My dad worked in Hong Kong but his primary home was in the US. I am now a US citizen and we have since resided in the US after my parents married.

This is exactly my situation outlined from the UK government website:

Can I still apply for British citizenship and how do I start?

Is your Father British by decent or not, what year were you born?
