Civil partnership FLR - work query

First post - what a useful resource!

FLR based on a civil partnership is usually for 2 years. Is there any point supplying additional information to the HO to ask for FLR to be given for 3 years where a job offer specifies that applicants must have 3 years leave to remain?

Is it best to include the request with the initial application, or to await the decision and then ask for an extension?

No sorry, no point at all! The reason is that the Immigration Rules are very clear that the a Civil Partner's visa will be for two years .... no more ... no less!

But what there is is a very clear path to ILR near the end of that 2-year period. Hopefully pointing that out to the prospective employer will be sufficient.

The job you mention .... are details of it specified anywhere on the internet? If so I would like to have a look, to see whether the job spec infringes any anti-discrimination legislation.

I will consider the discrimination angle, but it's useful to know that the ILR provisions are so clear once the 2 years are up. This may help.

I can't think why a 3 year period would be specified - is this a common period for people to be given leave for under any other provisions?
