Civil Partnership - Visa Requirments

I'm Australian but I have lived in Germany for the last 8 months. I am over here with my partner who is from the Republic of Ireland. We've been together 1.5years (same sex).

We decided to join in a civil partnership, and are in the process of getting this done now. We are planning also to move to the UK sometime in Jan or Feb of 2010. When all the civil partnership stuff is sorted and gone through (hopefully in a few weeks), I was wondering what visa I would apply for (or do I automatically get the right to live/work in the UK). Can anyone please let me know ASAP. Thanks.
