Claiming Asylum

Does anyone know what the home office criteria is when considering a application for asylum.

Criteria is that the applicant must be in danger of losing his/her life is returned to country of origin.
Asylum must be claimed at FIRST possible safe country so you are unable to cross many countries to claim asylum by road if you come from somewhere like Iraq.Your status would then be economic refugee.
79% of all claimants for asylum are refused
