Child Tax Credit

Hi,

I got my BRP in 2016 and one of the conditions was that me nor my wife is eligible for public funds. We have 2 kids and the usually receive Child Tax Credit but they have now cancelled this today and wants us to apply for universal credit instead. My 2 kids are british and my wife has ILR.

Would applying for child tax credit through universal credit hinder my BRP in anyway or when I go to have it renewed next year? or is this something we should avoid all together.
