Confuse child care tax credit /work tax credit /universal credit

Post by WIRALOON » Tue Aug 28, 2018 11:48 pm

Hello all expert, guru.
My question is about child care tax credit /work tax credit /universal credit

I have a spouse visa 5year route (been Uk 4year, apply for settlement next year).
My baby was born in UK. My wife has ILR and both of us are working.

I'm sending my baby to nursery in Nov2018 and hope to get financial support on the child care

I'm confused about childcare, tax credit /work tax credit /universal credit?
Rang tax credit center ,they told me my area has been replaced by Universal Credit   ?
So my question is should my wife doing the universal joint claim or can she do individual claim?
And the most important part is will it be a problem for my spouse visa settlement?

Sorry If someone already asked this question before.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

She has to apply for UC online as add you as a partner. When you go for your interview apparently there is a habitual residency test so they will work out that you aren’t eligible. It shouldn’t affect your visa as far as I am concerned. UC is a pain in the *** and I think they brought it to make people’s life difficult so maybe less people apply. Fair play to them.

It's not fair play if they are making it hard for those that are entitled to it difficult to get it.

Its foul play and dirty tactics.

Just so you know.

We had a change in circumstances which meant we had to transfer to UC

The net result is a loss of £530 in monthly benefits from what we had under child tax credits and working tax credits -

It is shocking.
