Turnaround time for Child Benefit for Child born outside UK

Post by jkcool » Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:33 am

I was granted ILR in February and my wife and 2 year old daughter got ILR in March this year. I want to apply for Child Benefit. As far as I am aware I am eligible for it.

Since my daughter was born outside UK, I need to send the original birth certificate, passport and BRP. Also, my passport and BRP. am I right ?

Is there a problem if I send it via recorded delivery ? Also, what's the turn around time. When will I get the documents back.

Thank you CR001

I have another question. Both me and my wife have ILR. My wife is not working currently ( use to work until Feb,2018). Do you think it is better to claim Child Benefit in her name as she would get NI contributions ?

Turnaround time for return of documents Child Benefit

Post by jkcool » Mon Jun 25, 2018 3:06 pm

Just updating the status of application.

I posted birth certificates, passports and BRP via recorded mail on 17/06/2018 and received all the original documents back on 24/06/2018 by recorded delivery. It also had a slip which says that they will notify the status via a seperate letter.
