Claiming Benefits whilst on ILR, Please clarify?

Hi Experts,

I'm sorry if this has been answered elsewhere but couldn't find a similar question/scenario so asking here. I hope someone can shed some light and provide the correct answer to below.

I and my partner got our ILR last year during NOV 2014. My partner is a full time mum since then, and is claiming child benefit in her name since Feb 2015. (We just didn't claim starlight-away after the ILR as weren't sure if we should)

We're claiming CHB in her name as she is not working and DWP advises it helps her towards her NI Contributions. (At least I think that's how it works)

• Now, the 1st question is about whether we should be OK to claim some child tax credits? if eligible of course.

And

• If claiming the CHB and child tax credits, or any other benefits will cause any issues in our citizenship applications in future?

I hope someone with the relevant knowledge can advise on the above questions please.

You are both now free of immigration control which means that you can claim whichever benefits are applicable to your situation.

Thanks for a very quick response Casa, much appreciated. I thought that was the case but wanted to confirm/check.

I couldn't find much info on 'claiming benefits when free of immigration control' via the UKV&I website, hence the questions here.

Then use this to see how much they will reduce by from April 2016 so you can budget. This seems to be the only accurate calculations for the welfare cuts under the budget changes.
