Can Job centre check if your eligible to access public funds

Hi I wanted to know if job Centre can check if your entitled to public finds or not.

You're probably better off discussing benefits and questions about them with the local branch of Citizens Advice Bureaux.

Im surprised no one knows this talking to Citizen advice can't get through to them as there very busy

They are not immigration advisors, but they do have links to immigration advisors.

According to this on their site, they might have a specialist immigration advisor. They also give a link to find an immigration advisor near you.

Are you choosing to move to Universal Credit instead of staying on the Tax Credit welfare payments? Have you taken advice on that from a benefits advisor?

Job Centre said they can check whether if your entitled to benefits or not.

To my knowledge if your card has no restrictions written on it then you have access to benefits.

I did contact HO im still waiting to hear back but they can only supply basic details not specific documents such as decision letter as they are running a limited service.

Can anyone confirm here if you have access to public funds is this written on the card or just stays blank.

Cause job centre cant give you benfits without checking your status and documents if you are entitled to it.

e.g. As you have a child, your wife can take the second adult element of the Working Tax Credits welfare payment, even if NRPF: Universal Credit does not allow that. Universal Credit also has work requirements for both parents.

Take advice from a benefits advisor before you decide to move to Universal Credit from Tax Credits. You cannot go back to Tax Credit once you claim UC.

Update: my wife has told me when she went to the job centre they checked her documents as normal procedure and the advisor took down her BRP card number to verify everything is in order.

When she goes again she will make sure they have done there checks there end and show them her old brp card also that she had no public fund restriction written on it.

She should be fine no problem.

My wife has passed the habitual residence test meaning shes eligible for benefits.
