Claim tax relief for your job expenses

Post by Kakaman » Mon Mar 22, 2021 5:40 pm

Hi Guys,

With Coronavirus everything is changed. There is a govt scheme where you can apply for tax relief if you have worked from home during Covid.

My question is, would a person who is on spouse visa will be able to claim that? Or is it considered as a public fund?

Will it affect any future applications if a claim has been made?

Thanks

Kaka

The £6 a week tax relief if you have to work from home, is not public fund.

It's a tax relief if you have to work from home. You can use tax relief.

Public Funds are things like some welfare benefits; asking the council/Local Authority to house you and putting your name of the tenancy agreement; being homeless (if you haven''t made yourself intentionally homeless) and asking the council/LA to house you ...

You can read this guidance on public funds for immigration staff-
Immigration staff guidance for how to make decisions about what UK public funds foreign nationals can claim and what action it must take if they claim funds they are not entitled to.
