Claiming Benefits after having a baby- UK

Post by vinnybangaram » Thu Apr 16, 2020 7:13 pm

Hello Friends,

I am Vinny (Indian Citizen). I came to UK on a Spouse dependent visa.. But my husband is British Citizen. Now we are going to have a baby soon.. So, I just want to know WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS WE CAN CLAIM AFTER HAVING A CHILD? (who will be by birth a British citizen as my husband is a British citizen).

I came to know we can claim child benefit on behalf of my husband.. Other than child benefit what are the benefits we can claim?

Hope u guys will be supportive :lol:

Maybe start here - UK government guidance:

:
You can use one the calculator from the following link to ascertain that;

They can't be used by certain people

You can’t use the benefits calculator if you are:
• Aged under 18
• In hospital/residential care
Not a British or Irish citizen, or you are living abroad
• A prisoner

• A student

If you try to use the benefit calulator, it then states -

If you have Limited Leave to Remain or Enter you usually have no recourse to public funds. This means that you cannot claim most benefits, or have someone else's benefit claim increased to cover you. If a claim is made it may affect your right to remain in the UK.

You should seek specialist advice before going any further if you, your partner or child have Limited Leave to Enter or Remain. Use our find an adviser tool (opens in a new window).

Our benefits information for Migrants (opens in a new window) may be helpful.
