Clarification on Maintenance for Tier 2 Dependent Visa

Post by MaximusNostramus » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:04 pm

Hi folks,

Here I am again, baffled at the way UKBA puts their policy guidance together, why can't they write something explicitly, there is so much room for making assumptions.

Anyway, this is the current policy guidance for Tier 2 Dependent:
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... olicy1.pdf

Pay attention on Page: 13 , section 52

Question:
How much funds I need to show for my lawfully wedded wife's maintenance towards the Tier 2 dependent visa?

Is it £600 or something else??

Please help

Thank you for your valuable time

Guidance can sometimes be confusing but this seems clear to me - it's £600 per dependant + £900 for you (if you're applying together).

Thank a million for your reply and confirming this.

Actually we are not applying together, I already have obtained my Tier 2 General - so its just her; in this case it will be £600.

Your assistance is much appreciated.

Maintenance if applying from outside

Post by odconsultant » Thu Jul 25, 2013 3:12 pm

I am also a bit confused as it doesn't mention clearly the amount if the dependant is applying from outside the country.

Please can you help me in getting answers to these two questions:
1. If the dependant is applying from outside the country, how much maintenane do the need?
I have been in UK for three years now - does that mean my dependent will need to show £600 in their account- so if they are applying from outside UK, will they need to show £600 equivalent to local currency in the account back home?

2. If my dependent is applying from outside the UK, can they use my statements from UK bank account showing £600 for them- so I will send them my statement to apply from back home.

Your response on this will be greatly appreciated.

many Thanks

it can be either your or her bank statement for 600 for 3 months.
remember when u send her ur statement and the time when she applies, the statement should not be more than 28 ddays old on the day of applying..
this is critical.
