COA and fiance visa

Post by thegoo » Mon Mar 19, 2007 2:19 am

hi all,

im indian (on a work permit), my fiancee is taiwanese (in taiwan at the mo - we met as students).

im writing to ask for advice on the options and unforeseen problems involving the process of getting married. we are planning to get married in the uk but the process itself is proving to be quite a mission.

1. apply for the COA
2. get COA, send to taiwan so fiancee can apply for a fiance visa
3. once fiancee gets the fiance visa - get married here
4. wife then leaves for taiwan to apply for a dependant visa and comes back

thats 3 forms. 2 embassy visits. 2 intercontinental flights. approx 3-4 months - complete disruption of her life. im being optimistic.

the other option is to get married in taiwan. i believe its
2 forms. 1 embassy visit. 2 intercontinental flights. approx 1.5 months - minor disruption to both our lives. again, being optimistic.

i suppose getting married - wherever we do - isn't going to be hassle-free. but perhaps people who have travelled this road could help with suggestions and ideas on how to get about holy matrimony in a peaceful fashion.

many thanks.
abhi
