college accreditation

My friend , presently on dependent visa is going to apply for student visa from his country of origin. he has found few colleges (with reasonable fees) to study ACCA full time. the colleges are:
1. london college of accounting and finance
2. willams college
3.london college practical education
4.college of it and e-commerce

he is confused. all the above colleges are registered at http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/providersregister/
but few of them are registered at http://www.the-bac.org/colleges/directory/uk.html

Q1. he would like to know whether it is ok for him to apply for a course in a college which is registered under 'dcsf'. does he need to check whether they are accredited by any other body/bodies? if so, what are checks does he need to make before registering?

Q2. he is on dependent visa (dependent of student) and his visa is valid until end of nov08. If he now aplies for student visa and for any reason his application is refused, would it have any effect on his dependent visa? will he be allowed to be back to uk under his current dependent visa?

Q3. is unconditional offer letter sufficient for him to apply for student visa? does he need to any other document from college like enrolment form?


Q4. Has any of the forum member applied for any course through either of the above colleges and has obtained visa thereafter? Please share your experience.

If he is a student dependant then that will continue to apply providing the person on which he is dependant is still here lawfully.

he knows that but his wife does not to continue her studies. please someone advice on my friend's query

Only establishments on the DCSF register qualify for the purposes of the student visa. Any other accreditation is just a bonus; UKBA does not care about them. The other site you stated will have establishments that are not on DCSF - work it out for yourself!

If he applies from country of origin and gets refused he will still technically be allowed to enter on the dependent visa up until his wife's student visa expires and if she remains in the UK. HOWEVER it will cause the ECO some difficulty if the student visa is not granted. No doubt somewhere along the line the question will be asked what is your wife doing. If she is not continuing her studies why does he need to go back to UK? Therefore does he need the dependent visa given her imminent return? There is a very very low chance that the dependent visa could be curtailed at that point. It will come down to the time left to run on her visa and his refusal date (if indeed he is refused).

If he is granted has he considered her position - she will need the dependent visa!
