commonwealth passport visa requirement for italy????

Pls someone help me and my wife wish to travel to itlay on the 16 th of aug she has a indian passporta nd is in uk on a marriage visa with a 2 year stay, i have a british passport, does she need a visa?? if so where can i aquire one and how long will it take?? all info will be highly appreciated!!

Oh dear, how many of these have we had lately, pls read before u post!!

Yes, she needs a Shengen visa, apply at the Italian Consulate in UK, but be prepared for a long wait, if u read this forum u would know most are talking months....

It should be free, apart from the 0906 15 quid call to book an appointment, and the 140 quid train journey if u live in the North, plus hotel bill if have to be their before 10:30am like with the German consulate and there's no trains early enough.

Free visa soon becomes 200 quid...

To be honest I've think u've no chance for the 16th....October 16th maybe...

thanks wanderer , og well thats that plan out the window, is it all countries in th eu we need a visa for are there any exeptions, except iraq or isreal or places like that, or is it back to the carribean??? as she dont need one for commonwealth countries!!

Ohh, noticed ur in Sooonderland, try the French consulate, outside London u get to apply by post, my mates missus got hers within a week. Trouble is u ought to go to France on it really as ur main destination...Schengen visa is EU-valid...

Otherwise, they'll most likely piss u about in the future...

In actual reality, cos ur missus is a spouse of an EU guy (ie you) she shouldn't need a visa - passport and travelling with u should be enough, this is the directive from the EU.

But, reality is not the same - some have tried and done it, no failures recored here, pls read and see for urself.

It's the knobheads between Sunderland and Rome who let u on the plane who dont know, so, it's worth printing the directive off in three languages, English, Itialan and Makem, and trying it if no other option.

Iraq and Israel are not in the EU.

i didnt see jamaica on ur extencive list mate does she need a visa for there ?? we are also plannig to go ther, we visited the carribean last year and she did not need a visa will she need one for jamaica????????
