company car / allowance - claiming housing and tax credits

Post by hpgalliford » Thu Nov 28, 2013 3:31 am

Hi

I am working full time and claiming tax credits and Housing allowance.
Me my wife and kids are all british national.
I have recently been offered a company car from my employer.
They have given me few options

1/ company car (In my name and I pay benefit in kind etc)

2/ car allowance (I use my own car and get £450/month as car allowance + mileage reimbursment)

3/Fleet car (car stays in company name and I claim fuel reciepts as expenses)

now since I am getting tax credits and council housing, what would be a better option? or getting a company car will cut my tax credit and housing allowaance significantly? is it worth getting the car?

Please advise

Regards
