Complaint against BHC

Post by hsmp_2009 » Fri Jul 10, 2009 10:45 am

My family have got ILR recently and i wanted my parents to visit me this summer. They have visited my family twice in UK before and they also hold visitor visa to USA and have travelled there. We have applied for a 10 year Long term visa which costs £500 per application. From the guidance notes my parents were clearly eligible. But the BHC gave them visa for only 2 years inspite of the fact they had previous 1 year and 6 month visas.

My parents are saddened at the loss of valuable visa fee which we could have put to better use, for eg for their medicines. Personally i can afford that loss of fee but angry that my parents have no means to redresss their grieviance. Long term visa guidance notes says it is value for money but my father thinks it is a daytime robbery.

I want to lodge my complaint with a proper body and not only with BHC itself. I hope other applicants parents wont face such anguish.

Please can any one advise.

Thank you vinny for the details. We know BHC wont return any fee paid. But they just cant get away with out explanation why they have given this decision. I get a feeling that BHC wants you to either put up or shut up. Also will there be any prejudice on any future applications? Or will they 'mark' you for lodging this complaint?

Thanks

Perhaps, under the circumstances, instead of complaining, you can politely ask them for a refund of the difference between the visa fees.

Though it is written clearly they wont refund the fee, i wonder will they do a refund in my parents circumstances? Probably worth a try. Thanks for the suggestion vinny.
