Hi all, I'm applying for my spouse visa to the UK from USA after my wedding (in USA) in January. Just working on paperwork now, and have a few questions I'm finding a lot of conflicting answers to. Hoping someone can help?
- I am interested in the VFS walk-in without appointment service. It mentions to be sure your visa type doesn't require an interview. I'm pretty sure a spouse visa does not require an interview. Is that correct?
- My fiance separated from his wife before he & I were a couple, but as the UK requires a 2-year separation for a no-fault divorce, he waited out this period so they could have an amicable divorce. The divorce was finalised last month. During this period, they've lived entirely separately, he has visited me many times and vice versa, we even lived together for 9 months. She agreed to the divorce and affirmed they had been separated for 2 years. I think we should explain this in his supporting letter - is it likely to lead to any other issues?
- I have included copies of his passport pages, showing many trips back and forth to America. My passport shows trips to England. We took a trip together to Sweden. I have photos of us in different countries, with family members (including his daughters) in different countries. We have ample chat history from the start of our relationship, wedding pictures, and I am pregnant with our first child. With all this included, should I still include:
a) travel receipts (hotel, flight email print-outs?)
b) wedding receipts (email print-outs)
Is there such thing as including too much information?
- He is self-employed. Is the financial threshold requirement BEFORE or AFTER his deductions? Is it his total income for the year, or his TAXABLE income, after his deductions? (Seems simple but I have seen conflicting information.)
- I received a DWI nine years ago in the USA. Will this affect my application, or has it been spent? How would I find out? It was not considered severe; I was not twice the limit, I did not have a breathalyzer installed, etc. But I did lose my license temporarily, I had to get a restricted license, I paid a heavy fee. It was my only offence.
Thank you to anyone who might know the answers to any of this - thanks!
