Confirmation about Naturalisation process

Post by sjain6ue » Wed Feb 28, 2007 2:41 pm

Dear Moderators,

I am not really sure if I have understood the guidance notes correctly so would highly appreciate if one you can please comment on my understanding.

I am a British Citizen through Naturalisation (obtained in August 2006). Now my wife has obtained ILR, she has been in UK for over 3 years and she will soon be applying for Naturalisation, reading notes I have understood that only residence requirements she has is, not to be away from UK for more 270 days in the last three years. The restriction of 90 days in last 12 months (applicable for 5 year stay requirements) does not apply to her.

Can any of you please confirm that my understanding is correct.

Thanks

Lots of information can be found in the UK forum. http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=3

Short answer is there is a short average (90 days in one year) and a long average (270 in 3 years) that she has to meet.

Not quite. She does have to have been outside the UK for no more than 90 days in the past 12 months.

The difference is that she does not have to have held ILR for any minimum time period before applying for naturalisation.
