Confirmation after biometrics appointment?

My wife is currently in the UK on a student visa. I am a British citizen so we have submitted an flr(m) visa application online, as her visa will expire 16th of this month (Jan). As part of the new process we went to the Sopra UKVCAS appointment on 4th jan for her to submit biometrics. We were told all was done successfully and we should wait 6-8. However we've had no confirmation email. If I login to gov portal it says next step is to book and attend biometrics appointment. If I login to ukvcas portal it just shows uploaded documents and my old appointment booking.

So I can't see anywhere that it says the application process is finished and I'm getting concerned because the visa will expire soon. Home office and sopra ukvcas haven't been able to tell if I should expect some kind of confirmation in the portal or via email. What are other people's experience?

Many thanks for your reply. My concern is there has been no confirmation by email, or update in either portal, that the biometrics / documents upload part of the process has now been complete. As it's a new process I fear something has gone wrong with the handover from sopra ukvcas to the Home office. If that's the case then the application might not be considered to be submitted and my wife's immigration status not protected. I wonder if other people received some kind of email or update in the portal after they did their biometrics.
