Confused-Renewing a spouse/ family visa

Is anyone able to offer any guidance on renewing a spouse/family visa please? My husband is due to renew his visa after 2.5 yrs. His first visa was issued in 2016 and he did the IELTS Academic in all 4 skills and got a great result.
To renew his visa will he need to do another language certificate or can he use the one that he received in October 2015? I ask as I noticed there’s something on the list of qualifications saying 2 years validity but surely if he received it then it’s still valid his English obviously won’t have deteriorated since!

Any help appreciated as do not want to risk not having his visa renewed.

Yes, he will need to complete another English exam as the first one is only valid for 2 years. We recently found this out. I believe he will need A2 test, but check the website. Please look at Trinity College for test exams, they have exam test centres all over. Hope this helps
