CONFUSION over marital status on UK fiance visa> HELP!!!

Post by hebillabong » Sun May 08, 2011 8:00 pm

Hello everyone,

I have been in a long distance relationship with my fiance for 4 years. We are finally moving in with each other, with him coming to join me in the UK where we will soon get married.

However, as he is from a NON-EU country he has to apply for a settlement visa as a fiance.

But I have hit a problem...

On the visa application it is asking for our marital status and I am confused as to whether I should write 'unmarried partner' or 'single'.

The only reason I am confused because in the guidance notes it says an unmarried partner is someone who LIVES with thier partner.

Please help, I can't afford to go to a lawyer.

If you're a Tier 1 holder, then he cannot apply for a Settlement visa.

He is applying under a tier 1 visa. I'm a British citizen. Do you know the answer to my question?

As the two of you plan to get married shortly, why on earth is he applying for a Tier 1 visa?

He clearly needs to apply for a fiancé visa.

I'm moving this thread to the appropriate forum.

"Single" would probably be his marital status.

Have you physically met?

Thanks!
Yes we have met. On average, we visit each other once every two months.

It's rather strange that I must list us as being single.... but as long as you sure... thanks

Single in this case means unmarried which you are

So put down ''single''
