Contracting - Doubts

Post by new2board » Wed Oct 05, 2005 3:11 pm

All, I need your help to resolve some of my doubts

1) Could anyone tell me the good umbrella company name? I'm about to start contract job.

2) What is IR35?

3) The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Business Regulations 2003 (the Regulations) will apply to all services provided by company ABC, including fixed term contracts for the provision of technical services, unless you are a limited company contractor and exercise your right to opt out of the Regulations.

If you wish to opt out, please tick the checkbox below: Opt-out

What's this all about? Should I opt-out?

Please help???

Are you in the IT field?

There are many good umbrella companies: Orange & Gold, JSA, Giant, Chorus, Prosperity 4 etc. I suggest you google these names.

IR35 is an Inland Revenue which affects people working through intermediaries (e.g limited companies)-any payments to such people are subject to National Insurance and PAYE. Most REC approved agency contracts should fall outside IR35.

Opting out of the Regulations helps in pointing away from IR35-check out the PCG website.

I suggest that you get expert advice as these are complicated issues and it seems you don't have a clue about them. But other forum members may think otherwise.
