Convictions and other penalties

Post by Afrema01 » Sat Jun 20, 2020 11:15 am

Hello

My partner was arrested and released without charge , having a trial , caution, warning or reprimand and did not go to court how do I answer the following question at any time have you ever had the following in the UK or in another country, An arrest or charge for which you are currently on or awaiting trial ? When I write yes it then asked me why were you arrested and charged which I can explain why I was arrested but I was not charged as I was allowed out without no charges, it also ask for the arrest date, charge date and any court date which I cannot give as it does not apply. How do I answer this question as No, because I was arrested for 14 hours but released with no charges or anything as the person told a lie about me.

Thank you

The answer is NO.

Being arrested is not a crime. It happens that the police arrest people while they are investigating but if the investigation clears you and you are free to go, there is nothing to report.

Thank you I was very unsure as the wording is not clear and also what you say in the UK you can be arrested and not charge and apparently over 900,000 people are arrested without charge every year. Thanks again. Do I put any information about this in the cover letter?
