Correction of naturalisation certificate

Post by skydove » Tue Aug 13, 2024 3:58 pm

Good afternoon all!

I have just been issued with a naturalisation certificate that has my name misspelled (not my fault). I am thinking about posting as evidence a copy of the original application and a photocopy of my passport.

Do you know if I need to submit the real passport or just a photocopy will be fine?

As well, in this form's point 1.4 ("Other Names") does it refer to one's first and middle names?

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... -08-23.pdf

Many thanks. :D

As far as I understand, your first/given name should be in section 1.4.

If your full name is "Jose Manuel Garcia Fernandez", in section 1.3 you put "Garcia Fernandez" and 1.4 is "Jose Manuel" - as it is in the passport. This is of course an example, you might have only one (or more than two) of each.

The form answers the other question:
Send your completed form, documentary evidence (originals not necessary) and your original certificate of registration to support your request to the following address:

Edit: *as it is in your certificate of registration or naturalisation (not the passport).

In the other sections you then explain that there is an error in the name and it has to be corrected (it should be as it is in the passport).
