Criminal Conviction Time Spent?

Good day,
i am entitled to apply for my British citizenship as i had my ILR for more than a year.
But i had criminal conviction with one month imprisonment 9 year ago.
I understand the rules now changed and i have to wait 10 years not 7 as it was for my ILR.
Could you please tell me if i still can apply for British citizenship if only 9 years pass and this is classify as a short sentence and might be successful , or my application will be rejected and fee will not be refundable?
