Critical skill permit

Hi there,
was wondering if someone could please help me.

I'm employed under a Critical Skills permit in a role which is nothing like it was made out to be, in fact most of the day I have nothing to do (my daily tasks do not require special skills!). I was unaware of a clause in this permit which locks me in for 12 months - under conditions of the critical skills permit I'm unable to enter into employment with any other company in Ireland for 12 months ( this includes employment under work permits or under long term residency which I am eligible for now)

I have been offered a new and rare opportunity with a UK based company, the role is here in Ireland.
Is there any way to get out of the clause in my critical skills permit. Could an option be to work the remainder of the 12 months in London and then return to Dublin on a new permit under the new company ?

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. Unfortunately, I think we're both stuck with our current employers for the first year. The only way to get out of that clause is to either be made redundant, or if the circumstances of your current employment contract change substantially (significant salary reduction, significant reduction of hours worked, company moves far away from where you live).

If you went to London, and then re-applied for a new work permit after the year is up, the DJEI might hold the fact that you tried to game the system against you, and not issue you a new work permit.
