Damaged Passport Cover

Post by nehasrivas2014 » Sun Dec 21, 2014 1:11 am

Hi,

My Indian passport got a bit damp as a result the cover has become a bit rough and swollen.
How can I know if I need to replace it or it is still okay as the way it is?

Many Thanks in Advance!

Though doesn't seem to be any major damage but it'd not be correct to make comment without actually seeing the passport and nature of damage.
Contact Indian High Commission. They usually relaminate the passport for minor damages. For major damage you'll have to apply for a replacement passport.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply!

I understand that I need to contact Indian High Commission but in their post about damaged passports https://www.hcilondon.in/passport.html#Duplicate
it says that I should bring following documents when visiting them. Please suggest do I still need the below documents if I only need them to check my passport and then re laminate or replace. Please suggest the minimum set of documents that I need to bring when meeting High Commission.

1)An Affidavit regarding non-acquisition of British nationality (to be filed at the High Commission).

2)Letter from British Home Office confirming non-acquisition of British nationality are also required to be furnished This can be obtained from the Immigration & Nationality Directorate, Nationality Enquiry Team, P.O. No.306, Liverpool L69 2UX (Tel No. 0845 010 5200, Fax: 0151 672 5592). The application form and relevant information can be downloaded fromhttp://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitiz ... t-british/.

3)Any other document establishing applicant's Indian nationality as supporting document like Driving License, PAN card, Ration card, Election ID Card etc in original with a copy (the IDs furnished should preferably be issued by Government of India or other Indian authorities like the state governments etc. IDs issued in the UK would be considered only as secondary proof).

4)Personal Particular Form (in duplicate) for Police Verification (available at High Commission counter) may be required to be filled in some cases where identity is not conclusively established.
