Hi,
I met a girl who is due to finish her first degree next March. We are planning to get married in a few months, but nothing is certain yet. I am on a work permit in the UK. I completed my MSc here 3 years ago. I also have three other degrees. I will be eligible for PR next year. I have wage slips/bank statements as well as significant savings. I can provide proof of accommodation also.
I know that there is no proviso in the immigration law which states that a degree is essential for a spouse. Still, I am wondering whether the fact that she doesn't have a degree will have any bearing on her chances of obtaining a spouse visa.
Do you think that the immigration officials would suspect a sham marriage due to the disparity in education? (The girl has never been to the UK before. We are from South Asia and she needs to attend an interview to obtain entry clearance.)
Do you think that her application would be stronger, if she were to apply after obtaining her degree?
If she is unable to complete her degree next year, will it have any impact on her chances of acquiring PR and citizenship subsequently? Is education one of the factors considered for granting citizenship?
Any insight into this issue will be deeply appreciated. I have been a regular visitor of this forum for the last few years. I would like to commend everyone on this forum for kindly lending a helping hand and sharing their valuable experiences. Thanks a lot.
