Delay in return of passport from British Embassy Abu Dhbabi

I was wondering if anyone has any insights or experience with their passport being delayed from the British Embassy in Abu Dhabhi after their email of application concluded!

We applied for my mother from Lahore, Pakistan for a general family visit visa. This was a duplicate visa request as her passport had been stolen which had a valid visa just issued.

We submitted a fast track application at Gerrys Lahore having paid £150 for the privilege. This was done on Friday the 26th June. We received a notification on the 29th from the Embassy in Abu Dhabi that the application had been received.

We got an email on the 8th July that the application had been concluded. However, we are now on the 13th July and still no passport. From our experience of past few years of applying and getting a visa, the documents have always been returned within a few days for collection from the date of the "concluded" email. But in this instance it seems to be taking longer and that too with a priority application which they advise 9 days for documents to be returned form date of application!

Any thoughts as to why its taking them so long to send the passport back?
