Dependant visa and PBS

Hi,

I'm currently on a student visa applied on 2007 and valid until October 2010, so the visa application was not based on the PBS. Right now I want to apply a dependant visa for my child that was born here in UK in May 2009. Am I right to assume that the application for my child dependant visa is not subjected to PBS as my current student visa is granted based on the old rules? I'm asking this regarding the maintenance requirement which are quite relaxed in the old rules compared to the PBS.
