Dependant Visa for my wife

Post by devmanda1ia » Fri Aug 31, 2007 11:28 am

Hi there,

I am currently on a work permit visa for 5 years in the UK. I am planning to put up my wife's visa file as a dependant. She is 24 year old and she has done Masters in Arts. I have looked through many sources on internet but haven't found a reliable one to find out the following:

1. what documents are required to put up a dependant file
2. how long it takes to get a reply or status of the visa file
3. are there any interviews involved for a dependant visa
4. most importantly, I am planning to come to India in 1st week of November to put up my wife's file. However, I know there is a diwali festival at that time and I am not sure if I'll be allowed to put up her file as the offices may be closed? Please advise.

Any information ASAP will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dev

using your own numbering to answer:-

1) Assuming that you will be making the application for your wife from India, the right page and document's needed are here: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front ... 1068127#Q6

What do my dependants need to make an application?
Your dependants will need to make their application online or fill in the following visa application form:

Application form VAF1 - Non-Settlement (PDF, 165K)

They will also need the following:
Their passport or travel document.
A recent passport-sized (45mm x 35mm) colour photograph of themselves.
This should be:
taken against a light coloured background
clear and of good quality, and not framed or backed
printed on normal photographic paper, and
full face and without sunglasses, hat or other head covering unless they wear this for cultural or religious reasons.
The visa fee. This cannot be refunded, and they must normally pay it in the local currency of the country where they are applying.
Supporting documents relevant to their application.
Back to questions

What supporting documents should my dependants include with their application?
Your dependants should include all the documents they can to show that they qualify for entry to the UK as your dependant. If they do not, we may refuse their application.

As a guide, your dependants should include:

evidence of their relationship to you
evidence that you can support them and live without needing any help from public funds
a copy of the pages from your passport showing your permission to stay, if you are already in the UK, and
your original work permit and supporting documents if they are applying before you travel to the UK.
2) Ask the embassy.

3) Possibly.

4) Closed embassies generally tend not to take files... online maybe. But. other wise...

dependant visa

Post by devmanda1ia » Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:41 pm

Hi,

I am on work permit visa in the UK and I am planning to put up my wife's file for visa. My questions are:

1. Does she need to have an IELTS certificate to come to the UK on dependant visa?
2. She doesn't have any work experience back home as she is a part of joint family. Does she need to have any sort of work experience?
3. She has done MA. However the final degree won't be received until Feb next year and I plan to put up her file in November this year. Will her yearly marksheets and a letter from college do?

Please help.
