Dependent visa for fiancee

Post by sankyb84 » Wed Jan 29, 2014 11:29 am

All

I am getting engaged on 9th of Feb and the wedding is scheduled for the 1st week of July in India. However, I wanted to check with all here if I can officially register the marriage in Feb and ask my fiancee to apply for the dependent visa before July.

I am currently based in London as a PR and wanted to check what is the current view of UKBA for applying for dependent visa before the Hindu wedding takes place (I have heard rumors that UKBA requests for actual hindu wedding pictures as evidence, but I wasnt sure if thats the case).

Appreciate your response on this.

Thanks
Sankyb

PR?

Are you an EU resident or are you on ILR?

If the wedding has been legally performed in the eyes of the country where the wedding takes place - then you're married and you can apply for the visa.

You just add a note of explanation to say 'we're married, but decided to defer the Hindu ceremony until July because ...<insert good reason here> so we haven't done that event - but here's the receipt of the booking for that ceremony'.

I have a similar question.

I am getting married in Court in March India and no religious wedding will not be happening. We intend to apply for her spouse visa after a day or two of getting the certificate. We have been together in UK for 5-6 months and have few letters with the same address as mine. She was student here and returned back to India after completing her studies in December. We got engaged in December and have numerous photographs for it. We will click photographs in magistrate office as well. We have photgraphs of us being together in UK for various trips. Multiple pages of phone bills, wats up chat, numerous email etc. all are available.

Is there anything to be worried about proving relationship??
